Swinburne University of Technology has ranked in the top 126–150 universities in the world for computer science in the Times Higher Education subject rankings.
Our computer science degrees allow students to specialise with majors in emerging specialties such as artificial intelligence, cyber security or the Internet of Things, as well as more traditional majors like data science and software development. These bachelor degrees offer guaranteed work integrated learning, which have seen some students win awards for industry projects and others secure a job before they graduate.
This latest Times Higher Education ranking sees computer science move up two brackets since last year.
Swinburne subject rankings also rose in business and economics and psychology, and five subjects sit inside the top 250.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Karen Hapgood, announced the most recent results to the Swinburne community.
“We are particularly proud of the way the Times Higher Education subject rankings have reflected our focus on ‘People and technology working together to build a better world’,” Professor Hapgood said.
“As a technical university, Swinburne has clear strengths in all the STEM subjects – including computer science, engineering, physical sciences and psychology – which is complemented by our top 200 law school and our top 300 business and economics result.”
Swinburne’s latest rankings success follows the overall university ranking holding strong in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings earlier in the month.
Swinburne has demonstrated strong growth in global rankings in its short history, with QS University Rankings placing us in the top 300 universities and Academic Ranking of World Universities ranking us in the top 250 universities, confirming Swinburne as one of the Top 1 per cent of universities worldwide.
The Times Higher Education rankings look at 1,799 universities worldwide across teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.
