Facilities
Gender neutral bathrooms
Swinburne was the first university in Victoria to install gender neutral bathrooms. These are now available across our campuses.
Hawthorn campus
- Building 1A – Security (1 Alfred Street), ground floor
- AD (Old Administration building) – Located outside, across from Co-Ground Café and before the lifts and AD102 access.
- EN (Engineering building) – Next to EN210 on level 2
- The Junction (opposite Glenferrie railway station) – Located on level 2, western end of the building.
- UN (UN building) – Located next to Hammer & Swine on level 3.

External organisations
There are many outside organisations dedicated to supporting members of the LGBTIQ+ community.
Minus18 are champions for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) youth Australia wide. They regularly run events, provide peer support and have heaps of relevant resources.
TGV is Victoria’s leading body for trans and gender diverse advocacy. We work to achieve justice, equity and inclusive service provision for trans and gender diverse people, their partners, families and friends.
Out for Australia is an organisation that seeks to support and mentor aspiring LGBTIQ+ professionals as they navigate their way through the early stages of their careers.
Bisexual Alliance Victoria Inc. is a non-profit volunteer-run organisation dedicated to promoting the acceptance of bisexuals in LGBTIQ+ and mainstream society. It provides a fun, safe space where bisexuals can meet, make friends, talk about their experiences, discuss relevant news and find opportunities for activism.
Intersex Human Rights Australia Ltd is an independent support, education and policy development organisation, by and for people with intersex variations or traits.
This organisation delivers community-led, culturally appropriate services that improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ people throughout Australia.
JOY 94.9 is an independent voice for the diverse lesbian gay bi-sexual transgender and intersex communities.
