Want to learn more about Korean culture and language? Make the most out of your summer break and head to South Korea for 2-3 weeks, as you study at one of our partner universities, Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul. Their short-term winter program is an exceptional academic program designed to immerse participants in the captivating narrative of Seoul.
Don't miss the chance to participating in a short-term exchange at SKKU! You'll earn academic credit towards your Swinburne degree whilst exchanging diverse perspectives on global issues, establish friendships with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, and delve into Korea's rich history, culture, food and society.

Academic WISE: 3-WEEK ONLINE ACADEMIC COURSE
The 2025 WISE will hold offline and online classes and plans to offer courses in many fields, including engineering, management, and social sciences. The courses offered at the WISE have the same academic standards as those offered during the fall and spring semesters. Courses are offered in English or Korean. This year, we plan to open classes in the fields of Korean Studies and Languages.
Explore Korea: 2-WEEK OFFLINE PROGRAM
This is a program for Explore Korea's long past, its dynamic present, and exciting future through special lectures and cultural experiences. Also, Survival Korean Class is your gateway into the Korean language, learning essential words and phrases to explore and experience Korea.
Intensive Korean Language: 8-DAY ONLINE COURSE
This is a course for students who are learn Korean effectively in a short period of time. Korean classes will be held in real-time, but they will also be recorded and shared so that students can take it at their convenient time.
Note that some Korean studies and Korean language classes will be run in Korean.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for this program, students must:
- be enrolled into an Undergraduate degree
- meet the overseas exchange program eligibility requirements
- meet any pre-requisites listed by the host institution and for the courses you choose (if applicable)
Academic credit
WISE program: Each course is worth 3 credits each. You can choose to study up to 2 courses (worth up to 6 credits).
Explore Korea: TBC.
Intensive Korean Language: 1 credit earned.
Note: you may take this program as credit for one of your elective units. Alternatively, you may be able to use core units for this program, subject to approval from your Course Director.
Credit equivalence
3-6 credits = 12.5 CP (1 unit) at Swinburne
Costs
No program cost (TO BE CONFIRMED)
Tuition fees to the host university are waived for students completing a short-term exchange program at one of our partner universities. You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Swinburne while you are on the program.
You will need to pay for:
- Accommodation
- Cultural activities
Note: There may be other program costs incurred outside of tuition fees, including living expenses, airfares, and visas (if applicable).

Funding
Funding your overseas journey may be easier than you think
Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants
This program has A$1,000 Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants available.
This grant can help offset travel and living expenses for your overseas internship and are available to both Domestic and International UG or PG students. Students can apply for a grant as part of the application process.
OS-HELP Loan
Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of up to A$9,504 (depending on your program destination) to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.

Application
Students must first apply to Swinburne Abroad following the short-term exchange application process. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
