Overview
Experience an unforgettable 4-weeks at our partner university, Hong Kong Baptist University, in vibrant Hong Kong. You'll spend your winter break immersing yourself into Chinese culture and completing a course of your choosing, where you'll earn credit for 1-2 units and fast-track your degree at Swinburne. Classes are taught in English too!
From uncovering Hong Kong’s bustling energy to experiencing the charm of Macau, this program offers a unique blend of world-class education, cultural activities, and opportunities to network with students from around the globe!

Eligibility criteria
To apply for this program, students must:
- be enrolled into an Undergraduate degree
- meet the overseas exchange program eligibility requirements
- meet any pre-requisites listed by the host institution and for the courses you choose
Academic credit
Each course is worth 3 credits each. You can earn 6 credits if you choose two courses.
You are able to take this program as credit for two of your elective units. Alternatively, you may be able to use core units for this program, subject to approval from your Course Director.
Credit equivalence
3 credits at HKBU = 12.5 CP (1 unit) at Swinburne
6 credits = 25 CP (2 units) at Swinburne
Costs
Program cost: USD 1,520 (approx. A$2,425)
This program cost is paid to the host institution and may include the following:
- On-campus accommodation
- Macau tour
- Theme park visit
- Activities
- Admin and visa fees
The host university has further information on their website.
Note: Tuition fees to the host university are waived for students completing a short-term exchange program at one of our partner universities. You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Swinburne while you are on the program.
There may be other program costs incurred outside of tuition fees, including living expenses, airfares, and visas (if applicable).

Funding your overseas journey may be easier than you think
Cheung Kong Travel Grants
This program has A$3,206 Cheung Kong Travel Grants available for eligible students.
The Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program (DACKEP) offer scholarship opportunities for eligible outbound Australian students to studying in select Asian countries. This grant can help offset travel and living expenses for your overseas exchange and students can apply for a grant as part of the application process.
OS-HELP Loan
Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of up to A$9,504 (depending on your program destination) to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.

Application
Students must first apply to Swinburne Abroad following the short-term exchange application process. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
