Workshop facilitator: Dr Deborah Koder

This workshop aims to guide participants in the key components of effective supervision using the cognitive behavioural framework (CBT). Models of supervision that align with CBT-focused supervision will be presented, together with available evidence on effective CBT supervision. Supervision session structure within the cognitive behavioural model will be outlined, as well as similarities and differences between CBT-focused supervision and CBT-focused therapy.

This practical master class will provide opportunities to practise and discuss active cognitive behavioural supervision methods, such as setting an agenda for supervision sessions, role play and modelling in supervision, effective use of Socratic questioning, and generating feedback from supervisees.

Evidence-based evaluation methods for both supervisee and supervisor competence will also be discussed.

This workshop is for AHPRA board-approved supervisors who have had at least two years of supervision and CBT practice experience.
