Clontarf partnership
Swinburne and the Clontarf Foundation – working together for a bright future for young Indigenous men.
Swinburne, through the Moondani Toombadool Centre, has partnered with the Clontarf Foundation – a not-for-profit that focuses on improving the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.
The national partnership – the Foundation’s first significant partnership with a university – is working initially with academies across Victoria on opportunities for their students to experience Swinburne, and to encourage thinking about further education at all academic levels and in all career fields.
This engagement has included Victorian Clontarf Academies in Bairnsdale, Mildura, Robinvale, Swan Hill and Warrnambool so far.

Clontarf Employment Forum
The Clontarf Employment Forum is an important development event for senior Clontarf students. It is a great opportunity for students to engage and network with representatives from a diverse range of industries and occupations, while building on transferable skills such as public speaking and teamwork.
The students learn valuable information about pathways into employment and further education at the event – some are even lucky enough to secure their own pathways at the event itself by networking with presenters and guests.
As part of the event, the Moondani Toombadool Centre hosts an on-campus university taster experience for Clontarf students, where the boys visit Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus and engage with a range of pathway opportunities.
The forum also benefits from its partnership with Swinburne (as the first Australian university Adobe Creative Campus) through a fun and creative Adobe session at the event.

“I’m very pleased to continue the partnership with Clontarf Foundation. These engagement opportunities provide Moondani Toombadool Centre staff with an invaluable opportunity to connect and deepen relationships with many Clontarf students in a fun and engaging way. It’s really important to develop and strengthen relationships over time to create awareness of opportunities and pathways to Swinburne for the boys.”
