Swinburne University of Technology has climbed nine places to be ranked eighth overall in Australia for the entire education experience for undergraduate students.
The 2022 Student Experience Survey (SES), released today, assesses 141 institutions including public and private universities, TAFE and vocational education providers against a range of criteria including skills development, learner engagement, teaching quality, student support and learning resources.
Swinburne’s score climbed more than 5 per cent in 2022 to 80.2 per cent, placing it second in Victoria and above the national university average of 75.7 per cent.
Students also appreciated the quality of teaching they experienced, with Swinburne ranking second overall in Victoria for teaching quality and again above the national average.
Acting Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tara Magdalinski said the results show Swinburne’s commitment to being the prototype of a new and different university.
“At Swinburne, we offer an education that is personalised, engaged, innovative, tech-biased, global, diverse and sustainable. Our dedicated lecturers are committed to delivering a world-class learning experience.”
“Students come to Swinburne because they know they will get more than just a piece of paper. Our graduates are having a profound impact around the world, answering some of life’s greatest questions.”
Swinburne improved across all indicators, with significant increases in learner engagement and learning resources.
The SES is the only comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia. It focuses on aspects of the student experience that are measurable, linked with learning and development outcomes, and potentially able to be influenced by higher education institutions.
Information collected in the SES helps higher education institutions and the government improve teaching and learning outcomes for students.
