Less than three months into her placement with Bendigo Bank, Marketing and Advertising student, Natalie Collett, has already declared the experience the ‘highlight’ of her studies.
Natalie is the first student to undertake a 12-month paid placement with Bendigo Bank as part of her professional degree, working as a marketing assistant.
As part of her placement, Natalie is working on Bendigo Bank’s marketing campaigns, including for the Community Bank® at Swinburne. This involves coordinating seminars and activations to grow awareness among Swinburne students and staff, as well as developing design briefs and writing copy for marketing collateral such as flyers, posters, postcards and digital signage.
Natalie is also involved in the media buying process for the bank’s national campaign, ‘The Better Big Bank’, and has learned how to evaluate media opportunities within regional Victoria and Tasmania to determine the channels with the greatest reach.
“I have had many opportunities to grow as a marketing professional in only a short time with Bendigo Bank,” says Natalie.
“The experience has allowed me to apply my learnings from Swinburne and deepen my understanding of marketing practice and strategic decision-making.”
Natalie has grown significantly as a marketing professional in only a short time working with Bendigo Bank.
The placement has given Natalie clarity in her career path, with the experience affirming that a marketing career is what she wants to pursue.
“The world of marketing is always evolving, so it’s hard to pinpoint the exact field of marketing I would like to work in, but I know after my time with Bendigo Bank, I will have the knowledge and confidence to make a positive impact in whatever I choose.”
Natalie is thankful to Bendigo Bank for providing her with this ‘special’ opportunity.
“Everyone I work with wants to ensure my experience is memorable and meaningful, and gives me the opportunity to share my ideas and grow each day,” she says.
“I’m excited for the remainder of my placement and to see where else this experience takes me.”
Bendigo Bank is offering two more 12-month paid placements for students to gain valuable industry experience while studying.
