Overview

Your 14-night program offers a full immersion experience in Penang’s local culture and dynamic business environment. In collaboration with INTI International College, you will work in diverse student teams to participate in a Global Business Services Bootcamp, providing business solutions for multinationals operating in Penang. You will be supported by experienced academic coaches and mentors before and throughout the fieldwork in Penang.      

In addition to obtaining academic credits for the core capstone unit (BUS30032- Business Consulting Project), this professional development opportunity will diversify your study experience and refine your leadership, problem solving, critical thinking and intercultural communication skills, giving you a competitive edge in the global labour market. Join your experienced SUT Academic Coaches - Cheree Topple (Senior Lecturer Management) and Jerome Donovan (Professor Entrepreneurship)- for what promises to be a transformational learning experience.

Highlights

  • Soaking up the colonial charm and the arts and culture of the beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town. Includes Peranakan Mansion, a stroll through Little India and past Teochew Temple - Penang’s oldest Hindu temple. We’ll learn some local history at the Sun Yat-Sen Museum and hunt for Penang’s famous street art, before continuing to one of Penang’s ancient traditional clan houses.
  • Overnight stay in beautiful Langkawi one of Malaysia’s leading holiday destinations.
  • Taking the funicular train system up to Penang Hill – part of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve teeming with flora and fauna - to take in the panoramic views over the island’s capital and parts of the Malaysian Peninsula.
  • Working to provide business solutions for Penang multinationals under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors
  • Networking opportunities with business executives, industry leaders and local students
  • Joint activities with INTI International College students and staff

Eligibility

To qualify for this program, you must be an undergraduate Business student who has completed Capstone 1 unit (BUS30031 of BUS30024) or 200 credit points in the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business Professional degrees by the end of Semester 1, 2025..

Funding

New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants

This program has 20 x A$3,000 Australian Government New Colombo Plan grants. These grants are available to Australian undergraduate students (with no citizenship or residency rights to Malaysia), who have not previously received an NCP short-term grant.

Grants are allocated on a rolling basis and students are automatically considered for a grant as part of the application process.

OS-HELP Loan

Eligible Australian students can apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of A$4,947 or A$9,504 to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.
