Book a room or computer at Hawthorn campus library
As a Swinburne student, you have access to a large number of group study rooms and computers on campus.
You can make one booking at a time for a maximum of two hours. Bookings can be made up to seven days in advance.
Booking a computer? You can review the software list of each computer at Hawthorn. Don't forget to save all your files to a USB or to the cloud before the end of your session.
Conditions of use
- Your room booking will be cancelled if you are more than 10 minutes late.
- Computers left unattended for more than 15 minutes will automatically log off.
- Any files saved on the computer will be deleted upon shutdown or logging off.
Accessing the Latelabs
Latelabs are study spaces and computer labs, located at each campus, giving you extended access outside of library opening hours. Outside the library opening hours, you must use your Swinburne ID card to access a Latelab.
You will be able to utilise PCs, print and copy areas, meeting rooms, study spaces and many collaboration spaces. At Hawthorn, you will also find our friendly Rover team waiting to help you.
Conditions of use
- You must use your Swinburne student ID (swipe) card to access the Latelabs outside library opening hours.
- You must not allow others to enter and you must not prop any of the doors open in the Latelabs.
- Respect other users by keeping noise to a minimum.
- Keep the Latelabs clean and tidy by using the bins provided. Keep your feet where they belong (on the ground).
- Carry your Swinburne ID card (virtual or physical) with you at all times — security staff may ask you to leave if you are unable to present it.
- Go home if you get tired — sleeping in the Latelabs may compromise your personal safety.
How to access the Latelabs
- You will have automatic access within 24 hours of obtaining your student ID card (physical).
- After-hours access for Hawthorn is via John Street; Wantirna and Croydon is via the external Latelab doors.
- If you have any access difficulties using your student ID card, email securitysut@swinburne.edu.au.
Opening hours
- The Hawthorn Latelab is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for some public holidays (Christmas and New Year's) and for emergency maintenance.
- Croydon and Wantirna Latelabs are open Monday to Friday, 8am–9.30pm (unless classes are booked during the day) and on Saturday, 9am–5.30pm.
- Opening hours are subject to change. For the current opening hours, including information on unexpected closures, please refer to the library website.
Need help?
- During normal opening hours, you can ask Library & studentHQ staff, our Liaison Librarians or Rovers at Hawthorn for assistance, or contact us.
- In an emergency, you can call Security on +61 3 9214 3333 — there is an emergency phone in each Latelab for you to call Security.
- Emergency procedures and floor plans are posted in each Latelab. Take notice of where your nearest emergency exit route will be.
