Working at the forefront of innovation with an interdisciplinary team of students, researchers, and industry experts, DFM creates the conditions for innovation to advance your projects and upskill your people.

Metaflora

Tackling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production), DFM students developed a plan to eliminate food waste in hospitals by 2030.

Habitual

In collaboration with Japanese biopharmaceutical company Takeda, students at Design Factory Melbourne and the Hasso Plattner Institute, Germany, developed an app for people with narcolepsy.

Wheebo

Collaborating with Kyoto Institute of Technology and Japan-based company Yanmar, DFM students designed a new water-based experience for leisure: the easily manoeuvred, omni-directional, jet-powered Wheebo.

Stawell Underground

The Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory asked DFM students to design an immersive, engaging experience for their new visitor centre. Final designs included technologies and solutions.

Farmsense

Partnering with the Bureau of Meteorology, a DFM student team designed a weather monitoring system providing mutual benefit to BoM and farmers in remote areas.

Carelink

A team of students from Aalto Design Factory and Design Factory Melbourne developed Carelink, a smart mattress detecting and preventing incidents in aged care homes.

TOM Untapped

In partnership with Tikkun Olam Makers, occupational therapy and design students created design solutions for people living with disabilities to make future work more inclusive and accessible.

XS-310

Examining the working practices of famers in the French viniculture industry, DFM’s global program students developed a unique solution to problems related to pesticide application.
