Choosing your Year 11 and 12 subjects
Planning your future after Year 12 starts with choosing the right VCE subjects. In addition to achieving a particular ATAR score, you may need to complete prerequisite subjects to be eligible for entry into the course you want to study. For example, you may need to study certain maths subjects in Year 12 to gain entry to an engineering degree.
You can find the prerequisite subjects and ATAR score requirement listed on the page for each course, which you can find by browsing courses here.
Which course is right for you?
Remember, there’s more than one way to pursue your passion. Swinburne has many different study options available, including degrees, diplomas and advanced diplomas, apprenticeships and other TAFE short courses.
Would you like tailored advice based on your situation? Speak to a Career Practitioner at your school about your study options, or book a one-on-one appointment with a Swinburne course advisor.
Pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are certificate courses that combine paid work with nationally recognised training so you can earn while you learn. Your employer will teach you on the job while we provide the formal training you need to get your qualification.
You can also choose to start building your skills with a pre-apprenticeship, which is a short course that allows you to work towards a pathway into a full-time apprenticeship while learning the basics of your chosen trade.
