Your Confirmation of Enrolment in Australia
Find out when you might receive a Confirmation of Enrolment from Swinburne and how to subsequently apply for a student visa to study in Australia.
What is a Confirmation of Enrolment?
A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) serves as proof of your enrolment at Swinburne, which will be issued when we are satisfied that you meet Australian regulatory requirements.
If you're coming to Australia to start your course, you need a CoE from Swinburne to apply for your student visa. If you're already studying at Swinburne as an international student, you may also need a revised CoE in certain situations.
CoE for commencing students
We will normally send you a CoE within one week of receiving your offer acceptance, university deposit and any additional documents listed on your letter of offer. You can then use the CoE from Swinburne for your student visa application to study in Australia.
If you have been offered more than one course, you will receive a CoE for each course you have accepted. You must provide all CoEs to the Department of Home Affairs as part of your visa application.
CoE for continuing students
As an international student, you will need to inform the Department of Home Affairs if you transfer to another course. To do so, you will need a revised CoE from Swinburne to replace your initial CoE.
This also applies if you cannot complete your course within the original timeline (for example if you took a leave of absence or had to redo a unit). If your course duration changes, you may also need to extend your visa before it expires.
Visa extensions are not automatic and only permitted in certain circumstances as defined by the Department of Home Affairs. Restrictions may apply to changes and extensions.
