General Information
Overview
The Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security has been designed for students who wish to deepen their computer science and cyber security knowledge by focussing on identifying, demonstrating and diagnosing flaws in software systems such as web applications and internet-based services.
This course will build on a student’s cognate undergraduate STEM-based qualifications or relevant industry experience. Key features of this course include industry-supported project-based learning with close alignment to practice in the anti-virus, penetration testing and web security industries.
Study structure
Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security requires students to complete units of study to the value of 100 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this Course students will be able to :
- apply a broad and coherent understanding of the concepts and practices within the field of cyber security as an effective member of diverse teams in a professional context
- identify cyber security threats and apply appropriate tools and techniques to classify those threats
- analyse cyber security scenarios, evaluate the existing knowledge base, and propose solutions
- apply relevant knowledge and skills to implement a Cyber security project with industry relevance
- communicate information proficiently to technical and non-technical audiences
- take responsibility for their own learning, and manage their own time and processes effectively, both individually and as an effective member of diverse teams

The skills attained from the program should assist graduates in gaining employment in the anti-virus, penetration testing and web security industries.
Course rules
To qualify for the Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security, students must complete 8 units (100 credit points) as follows:
- eight [8] core units (100 credit points)
Volume of Learning
The Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security consists of 100 credit points. A standard annual full-time load comprises 100 credit points and a part-time load comprises 50 credit points.
The volume of learning of the Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security is typically one year.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity is 50 credit points (normally four units).
