Looking for a way to involve parents in their child’s learning? At our family science nights (run by PrimeSCI), family members can share the fun of learning about the fascinating world of science together. 

They can be arranged at your school throughout the year for up to 180 participants.  

We offer two categories of nights: 'classroom style' and 'carnival style'. 

Classroom style 

Our classroom-style family science nights cater for up to 30 students (with 1 parent permitted per student).  

These intimate evenings give students and their parents the opportunity to experience powerful science together through activities and demonstrations.  

You can choose from a number of topics, including Our Blue Marble, States of Matter, Light and Colour, Electricity, Natural Disasters, and Forces in Motion. 

Costs

60 minutes for up to 30 students, plus parents: 

One session: A$550 incl. GST 

Two sessions: A$750 incl. GST

Carnival style

Want us to cater for more people? Our carnival-style family science night caters for up to 180 participants (students and their families) per session. 

These fun-filled sessions run for 75 minutes and include dynamic presenters, hands-on activity stations and demonstrations.

You can choose from a number of topics, including Spooky Science, Awesome Atmosphere, Chemistry Carnival, Sound Circus.  

Costs

75 minutes for up to 60 children, plus parents:

  • One session: A$1,150 incl. GST
  • Two sessions: A$1,450 incl. GST

75 minutes for up to 90 students, plus parents: 

  • One session: A$1,370 incl. GST
  • Two sessions: A$1,700 incl. GST

Note: Up to 8 teacher volunteers are required to keep costs at a minimum. A reduced rate can be offered for 120 participants.

Carnival style family science night topics

Spooky Science covers all things slimy, creepy, and a little bit scary. All sciences are explored as students make self-inflating balloons, slimy souvenirs and spooky sounds, make things appear and disappear, and get familiar with creepy crawlies. 

This powerful session covers all sciences to explore the wonders of our life-giving atmosphere. Dry ice features in this carnival-like atmosphere as students experience the power and unexpected behaviour of air as it sucks, inflates and smashes. 

Students and families also come face-to-face with inflating lungs and learn about how asthma is caused. It’s an unforgettable evening that will be the talk of the school for weeks! 

This chemistry-based topic features the best of chemistry activities. A firm favourite with schools, expect all sorts of icky gloop, bouncy slime, dry ice, and heart-pounding explosions to make this an unforgettable evening.

Not for the faint-hearted, this biology-based topic is perfect for driving home the message of living a healthy lifestyle. The digestive, circulatory, and breathing systems are brought to life with exciting demonstrations, activities, and life body parts. 

Students and their families will go home convinced of the wonders of their bodies.
